Ex-South Sudan Football President Chabur Goc Alei arrested in Juba

Police in Juba have arrested former President of the South Sudan Football Association (SSFA), Chabur Goc Alei.
Chabur who has been wanted by the Police to answer charges of misappropriating SSFA money was arrested in Juba this morning. He is being held at Northern Police Station in Juba.
After several days of searching, the Police finally arrested Chabur on Wednesday. “It is true the former SSFA President Chabur has been detained because he has a criminal case to answer. They have been looking for him and finally got him,” Bona Godensio Wol, the lawyer representing SSFA told Mirrosportafrica.
The lawyer explained that Chabur must answer charges of causing financial loss to the Association. According to SSFA records Chabur has to account for US$830,000 and missing vehicle belonging to the Association.
On May 24th FIFA through the adjudicatory chamber of the independent Ethics Committee banned Chabur for 10 years and fined him 500,000 Swiss Francs.
The former FIFA standing Committee member was found guilty of having misappropriated FIFA funds, as well as having offered gifts or benefits, in violation of the FIFA Code of Ethics.
But on Monday Alei said he will appeal the ban through the Court of Arbitration of Sport (CAS).
