Uganda to miss Waiswa for Afcon 2019

Uganda Cranes will miss midfielder Moses Waiswa for the 2019 Total Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon).
The fast improving midfielder was ruled out on Friday after picking a knee injury during the team’s camping in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
Uganda are groped alongside Zimbabwe, Dr Congo and hosts Egypt in Pool A of the Afcon that takes place June 21st to July 19th.
Waiswa who features for Viper Sc in the Uganda Premier League was last month offered a contract by South African Premier League side Super Sport FC, which he is yet to sign.
“The technical team has confirmed the player will not take any part further in the camp in Abu Dhabi following medical assessments of the injury. Plans are underway to organise his travel back home for further treatment and recovery of the injury,” said Uganda FA’s communications manager Ahmed Hussein.
He said it is a pity for the young man who had a dream to feature at the Continent’s biggest soccer show piece. “We wish him a quick recovery,” added Hussein.
The Cranes are expected to face Asian side Turkmenistan in an international friendly later tonight (Sunday) before they battle former African Champions Ivory Coast on June 15th.
