Cecafa confirms U-15 tourney in Eritrea

The Council for East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) has confirmed the 2019 CECAFA U-15 Boys Challenge Cup will run August 16 to September 1st in Asmara, Eritrea.
Nicholas Musonye, the Secretary General of the regional body told mirrorsportafrica on Tuesday that the hosts are ready to host a successful Championship which will attract all the 11 members.
The draw released on Tuesday has pitted hosts Eritrea against Kenya, Burundi and Somalia in Group A, while Uganda, Rwanda, Ethiopia and South Sudan face off in Group B. Group C will have Tanzania, Sudan and Djibouti.
“We shall have the best three teams from Group A and B qualify for the quarter finals, while the best two from Group C also make it to the last eight,” said Musonye.
He also made it clear that the tournament will help the region prepare the youngsters ahead of the qualifiers for the AFCON U-17.
Last month Rwanda also hosted the Cecafa Kagame Club Championship where Uganda’s KCCA FC emerged champions.
The 2019 Cecafa Women’s Championship is also expected to take place in Tanzania and the Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup in Uganda later in December.
Group A: Eritrea, Kenya, Burundi, Somalia

Group C: Tanzania, Sudan, Djibouti
